Meet Our Fellows Blog Series: Rosannah Mack

Many years ago at Purdue University, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and completed an internship to prepare myself to become a Registered Dietitian. After graduation, I chose the South Bend-Elkhart Region as home, unsure where my career in Foods and Nutrition would lead.

Over the years with the support of mentors and peers, I began to hone skills not only in clinical nutrition but also in leadership. I discovered strengths and interest in leading teams through process improvement, regulatory compliance activities, workflow standardization and relationship building. Through these activities, I earned Lean Six Sigma certifications for work to improve patient satisfaction in food quality and patient access to Outpatient Nutrition Therapy. Valuing continuous learning, I then set out to broaden my understanding of Healthcare Administration, completing an MBA in Healthcare Management in 2019.

As my interests continued to shift away from clinical work, I was unable to find a clear path forward. There were opportunities to leave the region, though the thought of moving was unimaginable. So, I made the difficult decision to leave the workforce. I was fortunate to take some time to reflect and reset my career compass. There were several paths I could have taken. However, in this moment, I know I stayed true to myself. Now, I am confident and humbled to join a team of exceptionally talented and diverse Fellows to continue my professional journey.

The enFocus mission and vision speak to me directly. The South Bend-Elkhart region is my home, and I embrace the opportunity for challenging and impactful work that supports my evolving skill set and improves the health and wellbeing of those around me. My hope for the future is that my career path will serve as an example to Registered Dietitians that are looking for non-traditional ways to shape healthcare. I am excited by the opportunity to formally learn new applications of project management skills, and I believe that my horizons will be forever expanded because of the collaborative community-facing work done at enFocus.
