At enFocus, we are excited to welcome 22 interns for the summer of 2023. Each of our interns exemplify different qualities such as excellent analytical skills, relatability, strong communication, a willingness to learn, and a passion for doing good. The young professionals who are joining our mission over the next eight weeks have different motives and passions they bring to the team. Let's explore their perspectives and how their work will benefit the South Bend-Elkhart region.

Interns join enFocus because of the array of opportunities for them to positively effect our communities while also gaining experience in a field of interest. Mayur Bajaj, an intern from Kolkata, India attending the University of Chicago shares "I felt that the enFocus internship was among the few opportunities that allow young professionals to make a visible and meaningful impact in the sector that they care about." Mayur's sentiment reflects the intern cohort’s collective aspiration to create a positive and tangible difference.

Yian Gong, a student earning an MS in Information from Michigan with a focus in User Experience Design and Research at the University of Michigan, shares a similar outlook. "I am highly drawn to the prospect of engaging in multiple projects and taking on independent project management responsibilities." Yian's enthusiasm reflects the interns' eagerness to embrace a diverse set of projects. Furthermore, she shares, "I am very enthusiastic about collaborating with fellow interns and employees to address challenges and make meaningful contributions to the community." The interns’ collaborative mindset underlines their commitment to working with our team and other regional partners.

Iliyan Chatoor, an intern from Karachi, Pakistan, attending Emory University also expresses his excitement for the various projects provided by enFocus. "The wide array of opportunities allow me to explore different fields, learn new skills, and broaden my perspective," shares Iliyan. His outlook resonates with many of our interns and their desire to gain diverse experiences that will enhance their capabilities and insights.

Similarly, Wesley Hays, hailing from North Webster, Indiana, seeks work experience that exposes him to projects within enFocus sectors. Wesley shares, "I am looking for a work experience that allows me to see all the different opportunities. enFocus seemed like a good fit because of the varied opportunities it would allow me to experience in one place." Like Yian and Iliyan, Wesley appreciates the multifaceted opportunities enFocus provides, and hopes to gain clarity in his professional interests through his internship experience.

There is no question that all of the interns bring passion to our region. Growing up with his grandparents, Iliyan expresses his passion and respect for the elderly by leveraging his skills to address community needs. Wesley’s unique passion is dedicated to his competitive robotics team and knowledge of technology. Yian is driven by her passion for problem-solving, and Mayur is proud of his work with the Phoenix Development Fund at University of Chicago where he serves as president.

We are thrilled to work with these talented interns who possess exceptional skills, incredible passion, and a genuine dedication to serving our communities. Their collaborative efforts, alongside the support of organizational partners and donors, create a dynamic ecosystem that drives change and empowers communities.
